Data Ingestion
There are two main ways for a Metaport application to receive data from a real world application. Select the appropriate one which suits each application.
Agent
A Metaport agent is a language-specific dependency installed into your production applications. It compiles application-specific metadata such as software frameworks, runtimes, and security vulnerabilities, and sends it securely to a Metaport Server. Agents are usually configured to regularly send from production environments using scheduled task runners e.g. cron.
CI
Unlike agents; websites and applications already set-up with CI pipelines in Github and Gitlab need very little sent over the wire. Framework and runtime data is fetched directly from a connected version control repository and your own existing dependency and security vulnerability management tools provide the rest. Data consolidation, notifications, reporting all happens on the server itself.
